about

I got the idea for this song after taking my daughter out for lunch at a local diner in our small mountain town. She and I were talking and playing and then just sat quietly for a bit while we waited for our table to be ready. As I sat there and looked around I noticed that so many people were looking at their phones. Rather than interacting with the people and world around them, most people in the restaurant were looking at their phones. I wrote this simple country tune as a longing for a time when we wrote letters to each other, sat and held hands over a meal rather than our phones, and ultimately found connection with the world and people around us.

lyrics

VERSE ONE
Walked in to the diner down the road
Everyone was on their phones
Gone are the days of just wasting time
Life gets lost when we're online

CHORUS
Sing me a country lullaby
Write me an old fashioned song
And let's fall in love over letters
Take all the time in the world

VERSE TWO
We're so tired and we're moving too fast
Impressed with nothing that lasts
Gone are the days of time face to face
I want a piece of the past

CHORUS
