about

Becoming a mother has been the most transformative experience of my life. I had been thinking about some of the lyrics and them of this song as I walked through the first year of motherhood. One evening I sat down with my neighbor at the time and dear friend, Veronica May. She is an incredible songwriter and musician. We started playing around with the lyrics and melody I had in my head and created this song together. This song is ultimately about the simple gift of being present to your life, to the changing seasons, and the gift of watching our children grow and change.

lyrics

VERSE ONE
The sun came up again today
I wanted to give thanks
There's a smile upon my baby's face
I wanted to give thanks

VERSE TWO
The clouds came out
The rain came down
And kissed me on the face
There's a glimmer in my baby's eyes
I wanted to give thanks

CHORUS
Moon is shining over glassy seas
And I'm aware of all that this could be
Clouds are rising now beneath my feet
And I can finally see
Everything we need is here

VERSE THREE
The seasons change the green to snow
I watch my baby grow
Oh the life we create with the love we sow
I wanted to give thanks

CHORUS

CODA
The sun came up again today
I wanted to give thanks
